ACTION

Minutes of the previous meeting held on 3rd March 2009
1. The minutes of the previous meeting were agreed to be a true and accurate record with the exception of one omission: Mr & Mrs Atkinson had stated they felt the bass noise from the microphone and speaker equipment used at the event held at the end January, was a bit too loud.

Matters arising from the previous meeting
2. Tony Sullivan explained that Emma Dickson from Punch Taverns is the email contact for the minutes of these meetings. The Chairman agreed she would email them as soon as practicable.

Comments Book
3. The Chairman stated no entries had been made in the Comments Book and all were reminded it is available behind the bar if anyone wished to make an entry.

Noise Limiter
4. Tony Sullivan confirmed Stockport Council had informed him the Noise Limiter would be fitted on Wednesday 8th April 2009. He explained the Environmental Health Office would set the level and the sound system would automatically be disabled if the limit was exceeded.

Smoking Area
5. Linda Barton confirmed that when the furniture has arrived, the smoking area would be available for use.

6. Steve Brundrett asked if smokers could be encouraged to use this area exclusively. It was explained that every effort would be made to encourage this and signs would be erected to this effect. Linda is expecting some new benches for the outside area. Once these have arrived some of the older benches will be removed. LINDA BARTON

Trees
7. Linda Barton had obtained prices of fully grown trees and explained these were very expensive. It was suggested by several present that Llelandi may be the most cost effective and fast growing solution. Tony Sullivan explained the cost per Llelandi was in the region of £45 each measuring 6-8ft high. He explained to all present that the planting of trees is a goodwill gesture by Punch Taverns who are hoping to keep the total cost of this below £500.

8. Discussion ensued regarding maintenance and Tony Sullivan stated Punch Taverns would be prepared to pay Linda Barton to maintain these. Linda confirmed her gardener would be approached regarding this. LINDA BARTON
9. The Chairman had explained the height difference between the near and far banks of the stream was quite considerable and therefore any trees planted may need to be well established before any benefit could be recognised.

10. Discussion continued regarding the possible involvement of Stockport Council and although it was agreed this is the wrong time of year to plant trees, Steve Brundrett stated the Council worker he had recently spoken with did not initially see a problem with planting trees where indicated.

11. The Chairman asked Mike Crowther if CUPS may consider contributing to the cost of the trees and he confirmed he would put this request to them at their next meeting. CUPS currently maintain the area of the stream banks where the trees may possibly be planted. MICHAEL CROWTHER Any Other Business

12. A number of neighbours had asked Linda Barton about the 5 noisy people singing loudly along Redford Drive, she confirmed these had not been customers of the Shady Oak. It was also mentioned about a group of young girls singing out loud, again Linda confirmed these girls were not from the pub and in fact were on the field at the back of the pub.

13. The identity of the man from the Shady Oak who had been seen urinating outside the premises is still not known despite enquiries. There has not been a repetition of this incident.

14. Tony Sullivan asked if everyone was happy with the methods used to ensure people are being kept informed of meeting dates. Everyone agreed it was up to individuals to contact the Shady Oak by telephone, check the notice board outside or look on the Shady Oak website for this information. The website address was confirmed to anyone who did not already know this.

15. Tony Sullivan asked if anyone had any suggestions of additional methods of circulating this information and it was suggested that the Liberal Democrats flyer may be an additional mode of advertising future meetings. Mike Crowther said he would display a notice on the CUPS notice board. MICHAEL CROWTHER

16. Everyone present was informed that the minutes of this and the previous meeting would be available on the Shady Oak website.

17. As there were no other matters to discuss, the meeting closed at 8pm.

Future Meeting Dates
18. The next meetings will be held at 1900hrs for 1930hrs on 5th May, 4th August, 23rd November 2009, 2nd February and 4th May 2010.
